Google has now merged local searches from Google Places into the natural listings section. To see an example of a local mapped listing, search Google for “boston hair salon”. These listings pull from Google Places, where CLAIMED listings include a description, photos and website link. You will also see the number of reviews that each listing has. Local listings with the most reviews are listed in the top portion in the local listings area. These reviews are pulled in from many local directory websites such as Yelp, Manta, City Review and more. After we claim your business listing and included a keyword enriched description of your business, you can direct your clients to leave reviews about your services and products on these websites so that your listing will be placed in the top portion of the local listing results. Also important to note is that as a result of Google merging local listings with natural rankings, top rankings are now lower on the page (under the local listings area) and those that were ranked 5 to 10 in have been moved to the second page.
